The best areas to threaten sparids of interesting size with the use of flour groundbait, are the shoals of rocky nature, mixed seabed or classic landslides of the coast below.
Starting from the assumption that not all the flours will prove suitable for baiting from the boat, we will choose products based on fat, with a fairly coarse grain and a strong bonding power: these are the so-called "bottom" groundbait, with a strong aroma.
Proportioning them to the current and to the bathymetric to be faced, these should be added to a certain amount of fresh lipids (maximum 30% of ground or shredded sardine) and adhesive material (such as powerful clotting flours, such as bentonite, or rather heavy semi-moist groundbaits, so as to minimize the breakdown of the balls of product).
Another important addition to the basic flours will be the insertion of a considerable quantity of quartzite, which can increase the specific weight of our mist and encourage a faster sinking. From the high disruptive power, once on the bottom, the use of quartzite will allow to split more quickly the ball of groundbait at the first assaults of the fish.
As far as the preparation is concerned, once the flours chosen with the additives have been carefully mixed, the wet part, composed of the pulp or pieces of sardine, will be added and then the wetting operation will continue.
The latter plays a fundamental role because it must allow the packaging of the mistballs compact enough to reach the bottom without bursting in the middle of the water.
When fishing on unimportant seabeds, it will be sufficient to release compact groundbait balls overboard to form an inviting bed all around the boat. Acting in the presence of strong water flows or wanting to threaten prey "deep" in the order of 50 meters, we will need to accompany the pasture to the bottom through additional tools.
To bait with the flours in a useful radius, we can use the classic feeder with release system within which to place the balls of mist well compressed so as to release the call as close as possible to the chosen spot.
