Marina di Capitana, a small port 10 minutes from the city of Cagliari located in a strategic position because a few minutes by boat offers a whole series of shallows, perfect for trolling, but especially because it is characterized by a series of ideal spots and fruitful for cephalopod fishing.
This is the scenario of the squid "hunt" session in the company of the Tubertini team, however, a day in which we will not talk about a common fishing trip from the boat, but a technique developed by the team over the years and competitions, during which be performing and understand how to maximize time is most often the winning strategy.
We will be facing a "dynamic" fishing session, a fishing aimed at identifying, with the help of high quality fish finders, solitary squid or in shoals to be threatened by lowering the squid jig right near the area of activity.
Since squid does not usually move much from the areas in which it is stationed, the objective is to make a precision maneuver going to drop right on their heads the squid jig with the aim of trying to flood the prey just during the descent of the fishing line.
Obviously, to make this type of fishing possible, not only you need high-quality equipment that supports the fishing action and skill of the fisherman, but also a wide range of different squid jig models, colors and characteristics to be able to mount different and immediately identify the one preferred by the squid. In fact, squids are not customary and from hour to hour can vary considerably the type and coloring that attracts them the most.
The equipment consists of the Yunkoro rod in 2.25 and 2.40 meters lengths, a two piece Seika, designed specifically for cephalopod fishing. An instrument characterized by a very harmonious and uniform parabolic action that allows you to have a rear part with a good reserve of power and a medium sensitive tip; a rod like no other on the market.
As for reels, they are spooled with Viral 0.14 mm, an Icon 4000 and an AP Power 4000, a new jewel of the Ryobi Tubertini house. The new size 4000 completes the models 6000 and 8000, already on the market and which have made power and reliability their trademark.
The tutorial dedicated to the realization of the line could not be missing: Tubertini Ghost, used both as shock leader, in the measure 0.28 mm, and for the body of the line, in the measure 0.25 mm, on which were made 5 beams equipped with snap to mount quickly and comfortably the squid jig. A 100 gram lead is the targeted choice to preserve lightness and dynamism.
Of course, Seika squid jig are a must in all their range of models, textures, from silicone to silk, sizes and colors. The historical models, such as the red head and the latest colors of the new season, are not to be missed.
The team's dynamic fishing strategy was right: the first time the boat was lowered into the water, the result was 5 squids out of two lines. Although the worsening weather conditions force the team to return before the time, the skill and experience mean that returned to port the tank is full of beautiful squid and some cuttlefish.
