Surfcasting in its various facets is the focus of the fishing session that we will live together today, because as we know this technique is not only very varied in terms of prey and equipment but also in terms of settings, which in this case are ultra-light for fishing afloat.
The time chosen by the experts of the Trabucco team is quite unusual for this technique, being the central hours of the day. Nevertheless, their goal is to catch fish that eat detached from the bottom, such as pompano, garfish and breams.
The two protagonists immediately show us what is the star of the day, that is a very light ledgering rod of the Trabucco brand: the Cephalonia, in the measure of 4.60 meters. This rod, made of carbon CX2 has the characteristic of being very fast in response at launch, thanks to its unsurpassed lightness and at the same time power.
Shortly after presenting it, in fact, the first fish yields to the will of the rod, is caught and brought to shore and shown to the camera. It is a pompano of good size, beautiful color, which surrendered after a fierce fight, forcing the rod to bend significantly, as pointed out by the two experts.
After a second catch, this time more discreet, the team explains what kind of equipment is using for this catch. The hooks, in this, are the focal point. These are the F31, hooks in carbon and metal very light, with a stem of a particular shape, as its tip is an eagle's claw making it possible to unload very low. The micro eyelet, moreover, is another feature that in the technique of light surfcasting makes the difference.
As for the reel, however, the one put into fishing is the Sharp in the measure 4000. A tool with a particularly elegant spool, which distinguishes those who choose it thanks to its captivating personality. This reel is equipped with absolute precision that also helps to reduce oscillations and a metal body that makes it a real jewel of the Trabucco brand.
The passing of the hours leads our protagonists to make the decision to move to another nearby beach to try to catch some fish perhaps deeper and slightly changing the fishing structure by replacing the bait of the Korean, which has borne fruit in the first part of the day, with the trigger of the bibi, as it could resist more on the hook. In this case, the trim includes two and three snoods of 50 or 60 centimetres in length, different from the one used on the previous beach.
The fishing session soon turns into a float fishing above the posidonia, the real green lung of the sea, which does not hesitate to give our protagonists small breams and annular seabrems.
Despite the higher expectations for this second spot towards larger fish and even possible gilthead seabream, the two protagonists enjoy catching and releasing many small breams that are immediately released and that help them to test an increasingly high-performance equipment for light surfcasting.
