Appointment at sunset with Saverio Rosa and Marco D'Ercole of Trabucco team for a trolling squid fishing night.
A "double brand" session featuring Trabucco products, such as Neptune reel, Tsumani rod and T-Force Soft Max nylon alongside the real stars of the evening, the lure Rapture Egi Hunter.
The ideal spot is located a few hundred meters from the coast because at this particular time of the year squids approach the sub-area for reproduction.
Thanks to the auxiliary motor that allows an optimal trolling speed to be obtained, Saverio holds the Tsunami rod, which with its wide weight range (12-30 lbs) is the ideal one for this type of fishing, as its soft action allows to support the escape of the squid and to avoid, in this way, to damage their fragile tentacles.
Attention immediately moves to the preparation of the line for this type of trolling: in sequence four Egi Hunter lures of different colors are mounted. The importance of having a large assortment of these lures, available in six colors, allows you to analyze in fishing the way they work and to understand which colors attract the squid most in spots, so you can easily change your own line.
Egi Hunter are offered in two different models: the Shallow with a shorter and less sinking blade and the Deep Runner with a more tapered body, increased paddle and higher sinking coefficient.
Saverio stops to explain in detail the construction of the line and the arrangement of the lure. On a beam made of high quality nylon Soft Max of the 60 are placed four swivels that allow you to unload the twists and to tie to the fishing system four armrests of two meters length made with the same wire but of the 45 size.
To the armrests are mounted the artificial Egi Hunter, to the final armrest, the one closest to the bottom will be mounted the most sinking Deep Runner, so that this sinking gives the line the inclination necessary so that the other three armrests can work well away from the rig . To these three armrests will be connected three other lures, this time of the Shallow model.
An infallible but complex fishing system to be built on board and above all to be managed delicately during the various fishing phases to prevent tangles from compromising efficiency and making the line unusable.
The sun has disappeared completely behind the horizon and the squid of the Tyrrhenian seem to appreciate the holographic structure and the sound effect given by the internal balls present in the body of the Rapture lure.
Catches are satisfactory and the team decides to return to port, saluting with a "fish explanation" on the distinction between squid and flying squid and how to recognize these two different types of cephalopods simply looking at the anatomical conformation of the fins that are positioned at the end of the mantle.
With many new technical advices, many products shown and tested in the field, another exciting episode of sea fishing with the Trabucco team ends waiting for the next appointment.
