Ultegra XTD SPOD is the new big pit spod reel created for carp fishing enthusiasts. It was designed on the basis of the highly successful Ultegra XTD 14000 reel, it has the same features but has been perfected for spodding.
These are the main differences between the Ultegra XTD standard model and the Ultegra SPOD XTD.
-Spool: less wire capacity, better suited for spodding.
- Gear performance: 5.2:1 instead of 4.3:, so more efficiency in recovery.
- Recovered wire for each handle tourn: 124 cm instead of 103 cm.
- Wire clips: 3 instead of 1.
- Handle: Egg type instead of T-type to improve grip.
- Spare spool: 0 instead of 1 but lower RRP. It is advisable to use the spod reel in combination with a spod reel.
For this type of fishing, the component called spod (or spomp) is filled with bait and then thrown to attract the prey.
Wire clips are used to secure the throw at a certain distance: this helps the angler to make very precise throws.
With a high recovery speed, the spod can be handled very efficiently.
