A bolo fishing session in port. From the pier of Porto Torres port, north Sardinia, the Trabucco team engages in a mixed fishing trip in search of grey mullets, dreamfish, sargo and oblade.
It begins immediately with the float calibration and the measurement of the seabed, the fishing action will take place near a step about 20 meters from the dock and the action decided is to start fishing detaching of about twenty centimeters from the seabed, assuming to adjust the shot as the session will evolve with the advancement of the day.
Depending on the current condition of the spot to be approached, a leaded crown with a higher downward concentration was chosen to calibrate the float. At the centre of the it there’s a torpille, delimited by two micro rubbers with the task of cushioning the possible impacts of the lead with the lead shots of the crown.
The first to enter the water are obviously the pastures: the new Trabucco XP Special Sea. Alongside the undisputed and super-headed "Super Cefalo Bianca", experts decide to try the "Saraghi Occhiate", convinced that the combination of shrimp flour and red bread can be promising for a session of bolo fishing from the pier.
Approximately 4 kilos of pasture is prepared; a session like the one we are facing involves, in fact, the use of large quantities of pasture. The pasture is moistened just enough to make it polyvalent and suitable for making harder balls that can sink quickly and start disintegrating only after reaching the bottom and at the same time the softest balls that can begin to untie in contact with the layers of the water surface.
The day's trigger will be French bread, soaked and then filleted into small morsels gently primed on a long-stemmed XPS Super Carbon Hooks number 14 series 120 XM; a high quality product in steel and carbon, chemically sharpened and laser-finished tips. When in contact with water, the bread will swell and increase its palatability in the eyes of the mullet.
Frangente family rods are the stars of the day, an Allround and the brand new X Power Bolo, the most powerful of the range, designed specifically for fishing from the reef or pier. A pride of the house Trabucco, made of carbon CX2 with additional spiral reinforcement cross-winding for a perfect optimization of the weight-power ratio of the rod. All enriched with high quality components specifically designed to resist fishing in the marine environment: Sensi-touch coating for a perfect grip on the stock, Pack-Bay steel plate and Sea Guide ringing.
The Frangente X Power is matched to an high quality reel that stands out among other things for its cutting-edge system that allows you to have a perfect spooling. 6+1 bearings give the Krius an unparalleled fluidity of recovery and the watertight micrometric clutch guarantees extreme resistance to dust and salt.
The session includes a thin fishing: in reel wires of 0.14 and rigs of 0.10 measure. The rigs used consists of two armrests of different lengths made of fluorocarbon FC403 Saltwater, a completely invisible monofilament perfect for use in the crystal clear waters of Sardinia.
The cleverness of the Trabucco experts consists this time in using a reinforcement of the rig right near the hook with a piece of 0.16 wire, to avoid that in case of dreamfish hooking, which as is well known have a super sharp mouthparts, fish and part of the setting get lost.
